Are you getting your message across?
If you want to rate your organization’s printed materials, here are a few questions to ask yourself:
1. How do your brochures, newsletters, annual reports, and other materials look compared to the materials of other organizations in similar fields?
2. Do your materials take a lot of staff time to prepare?
3. Are they completed in a timely manner?
4. Do they make your organization look good?
5. Do they communicate the feeling that you want to get across?
6. Are they inviting? Do they make people want to open and read them, and maybe even keep them for future reference?
7. Do your materials ask people to take action, such as visit your website, send a contribution, or call for more information?
8. Are they written clearly and without jargon so the general public will know what you’re talking about?
9. Are photos included that are relevant, engaging, and of interest to your target audience?
10. Is the printing good? Are the colors right? Do you feel confident dealing with printers and the printing process?
If you want your materials to get your message across more effectively and take up less staff time in preparation, you may want to consider getting help in creating them.
